Come join myself and some friends for a paddle on my birthday. We will put in at Cherry Beach and head over to the islands.
Bring a lunch and we'll have a shore lunch/picnic on one of the islands.
Drysuits and wetsuits are recommended but if you layer properly you should be fine too. Just because it is a watersport does not mean you have to get wet. We will be no more than 50 metres from shore so even in the event of a capsize you will be dry and in warm clothes in minutes.
If you are in need of a rental, www.learntokayak.ca in Burlington is offering special rates for this event. www.learntokayak.ca also has a very limited selection of drytops and semi-drytops available for rent as well.
Contact www.learntokayak.ca at:
learntokayak.ca@gmail.com
Make sure you reference this event when reserving your rental.
www.learntokayak.ca will be able to bring your rental boat to the event.
No gifts are expected or needed but you are more than welcome to make a donation to www.kayakforacure.org . Click on the Mississaugua page, and then click on my name to donate. I'll have a hat/bucket at the event in case you would rather wait until then to donate as well. Remember any donation over $20 qualifies you for a tax receipt.
Our goal for the first ever Ontario event that was held on September 19th was to raise $5000, currently we sit at $4834. I woiuld love to able to surpass that goal.
In the event of rough conditions we will instead put in at Sunnyside Beach and paddle within the breakwall and over to Ontario Place.
Would love to see you all there before you put your boats away for the winter. Feel free to invite anyone else you think may be interested in coming for a paddle.
See you there
Alan

OK! I'm coming to your birthday party provided:
1. There is birthday cake afterwards baked on an outback oven.
2. There are Werner Paddles in the loot bags.
3. The balloons are inflated paddle floats
4. The pinata is a giant paper mache of Dubside's head, dreds and all.
5. We play spin the kayak pump and whoever it points at has to roll or rescue the person next to them...I know we may have to skip this one given that it's Nov. 15...you couldn't have been born in August could ya?
Sing along with me
Happy Birthday to you,
You Kayaking fool,
Your drysuit smells funky,
and your river boots do too!
Happy Birthday see you there!!!

Okay Dympna, I expect you to sing that next week.
Since you rock an outback oven I would love to taste a birthday cake from one
Werner Paddle...I was planning on handcarving each attendee a Greenland for their lotbags. Now that I can;t make up my mind I don;t know if either will happen
hahahahaha
Anyway, looking forward to next Sunday and seeing your new acquisitions as well as having great weather and a great paddle.

I can't believe that I am ditching this group again.
With a w/e like this I can't justify not working on this insane
stone wall that my son and I started more than a year ago.
Alan, many happy returns of the day.
I will join you eventually.
Enjoy the weather and the water!
Steve ;)
