dare I say this is her Swan Song JOOBB_SMILEYLAUGHING

I’m planning a short, 2 hour paddle to bid Lise farewell as she heads back to the land of Grizzly Bears and perma frost… OK, not quite that far north, but the Grizzlys are real, I saw their foot prints JOOBB_SMILEYSUPRISED

When: April 10, 9:00AM
Where: Burlington Beach
What: 2 hour paddle, weather permitting
And then: visit to a local eatery, Lise is looking into an Indian Buffet

Remember, the water is still cold so proper gear is a must.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. The Wind in the Willows

Post Swan Songs
by lvaugeois on 04/03/2011 14:52

Orlando Gibbons set this to music in 1612. Alas, it is a five-part madrigal so I will not be able to sing it for you next Sunday:

The Silver Swan who, living, had no note,
When death approach'd, unlock'd her silent throat.
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
Thus sung her first and last, And sung no more:
"Farewell all joys, O death come close mine eyes.
More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise."

"Seems we just get started and before we know it, comes the time we have to say so long!" -Carol Burnett

Alas, it's NOT part of a 5-part madrigal but it DID end the show every night AND I just might sing it for ya!!!

I'll be there!!!

Post Sunday Paddle
by Port Credit on 04/04/2011 17:50

Count me in.

I've really missed the opportunity this winter to paddle with enough crazy people. We just had too much snow and I couldn't seem to pass on the great opportunities to ski.

Just checked the weather. Tonight, clear, winds light. Sunday morning becoming cloudy with 60% chance of rain and T-storms in the afternoon... good thing this is a morning paddle JOOBB_SMILEYVERYHAPPY

My apologies but unfortunately I will be unable to attend.
Lise, have a great paddle and I hope to see you, in person, soon either back down here or up there. xoxo
