Our Paddle Canada Intro to Kayaking certification course introduces the novice to paddling a kayak in calm, sheltered waters.
Rescue techniques at this level incorporate the use of a paddling partner and it is essential for all Intro to Kayaking certified paddlers to travel on the water with others who have been trained in the techniques of assisted rescues. Starting at The Complete Paddler in Toronto, our first two hours are spent going over course content, expectations and comments and concerns. It’s a great place to start because we can look at all the gear available and go through essential and non-essential gear. During this first session we will cover the required theory content including:
• Boat design
• Boat Outfitting
• Clothing
• Safety equipment
• Paddles
• Injury Prevention
• Equipment care
• Kayaking Resources
This evening is also a great time to come along with questions, as there will be time afterward to ask things you’ve always wanted an answer for.
Our next two sessions will be at Terry Fox Memorial pool in Burlington, On. The following is an overview of the skills we will be teaching.
