White squall is auctioning off some paddling equipment for Global Medic, a disaster relief organization who is helping out in Japan. It's a great cause, and there's some nice gear on offer.

We had a nice paddle up one of the nearby creeks to avoid the wind. Here are some pics, and a video of James and Craig attempting to roll the new double kayak.

Is this where we're meeting? Hey Craig, I'm passing by your place on the way if you want to split a ride.

Tempura and beer is just like fish and chips. I'm not sure there is a Japanese equivalent to haggis though.

I'm in for the paddling and the sushi. Maybe we can have them boil it into oblivion for our British friends ;) I'll be driving from Milton if anyone wants to carpool.

Does anyone have any experience with the level-six dry suit? They can be had for a couple of hundred less than the Kokatat suit, but I'm not sure of the quality. The fabric is supposed to be breathable, but it's not Gore-Tex.

What is the nature of the damage?
Carbon fiber is made by laying down carbon fiber cloth and wetting it out with epoxy resin. If it's a puncture, that would be fairly simple. If it's broken in two, you would need a jig of some sort.
