How To Heat Rubber Cable Connector Sleeves
Post How To Heat Rubber Cable Connector Sleeves

One of my kayaks has a rubber cable connector that failed. I need to cut it off and install a new one. What is the best way to heat the new rubber sleeve given that it is in a hard-to-reach area inside the cockpit where it attaches to the foot peg slider?

Hey Carla,

I have used a heat gun for this purpose. You can buy the heat shrink tubing and it shrinks pretty easy. Just make sure that you dance the heat back and forth over the tubing so you don't melt the side of the kayak! It is pretty cheap and easy.
